Tignes has become regarded as Val d’Isere’s sporty sister and the go to resort for those looking for serious skiing with a dose of after hours partying in the French Alps good. Whereas those who visit Val d’Isere take their holiday easy – typically stopping for a long lunches only to be dancing upon tables by four in the afternoon, those who book ski trips Tignes have one priority in mind – the skiing. With massive on and off piste opportunities to be had, Tignes is a place where everybody can push their riding to the max. Upgraded Espace Killy passes provide over 330km of pisted runs, while new ‘naturide’ areas (patrolled yet un-groomed areas) provide safer off piste opportunities.
For those not completely knackered by time the lifts close Tignes has a ready supply of après bars. A particular favourite is the Loop Bar down in Le Lac, with its sunny terrace overlooking the black Trolles run and the off piste Lavachet Wall plus frequent live music makes it the perfect spot for a cold beer after a long day.
Tignes itself is split in to several villages, Wasteland mainly operates out of the Tignes hub village – Tignes Val Claret which is the highest and busiest area. However we are able to offer holidays to other areas such as Le Lac and Lavachet some please ask.
Like Val Thorens, Tignes provides huge amounts of skiing for you dollar – upgrade to the full Espace Killy for access to 330km of piste, 2 Parks and 1 super pipe, a glacier at your front door and powder in abundance. For wanna be powder junkies, Tignes is the perfect place to hone your skills. Naturide areas are part of a relatively new concept in the French Alps that provides ungroomed yet patrolled and avalanche monitored areas.
