Renovated for the 2006 winter Olympics the airport today is not congested.
The airport is well linked with the city centre and with the main railway stations through taxi, bus and train services, in addition to the city ring road and motorway network.
During the winter a comprehensive supply of charter and low cost flights links the area to ski resorts.
Crossing the border over into France can cause delays.
Transfers to resorts are available but should be booked in advance to ensure space is available.
